ISHA Autumn Seminar 2015: Failure and Beyond. Telling History - Shaping Memory

The publication at hand is a documentation of the project Failure & Beyond. Telling History – Shaping Memory, a students’ initiative administered by the student club International Students of History Association (ISHA) Graz. For one and a half year numerous students of the University of Graz engaged in the process of planning and realizing an international conference for young academics. The conference itself took place in Graz from the 6th to the 12th of September 2015 and dealt with questions concerning the role of historians, the nature of historiography and the (ab-)use of history in the light of the failure/success paradigm. With this documentation students present the scientific results that derived from their research and offer insights into specific characteristics of a voluntary project such as Failure & Beyond. Furthermore, it illustrates individual experiences of participating in an academic, interdisciplinary and international initiative, such as ISHA.
